ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը վստահություն Է հայտնել, որ լիակատար իրավունք ուներ Ռուսաստանին կարեւոր տեղեկատվություն հայտնելու վերջերս Վաշինգտոնում կայացած բանակցությունների ընթացքում:
«Որպես նախագահ ես ցանկանում Էի Ռուսաստանին հայտնել փաստեր, որոնք վերաբերում են ահաբեկչությանը եւ ավիացիոն թռիչքների անվտանգությանը: Եվ ես ունեմ դրա լիակատար իրավունքը»,- գրել Է նա Twitter-ի իր Էջում: 
«Դրա համար կան հումանիտար պատճառներ, գումարած այն, որ ես ցանկանում եմ, որ Ռուսաստանն զգալիորեն ակտիվանա ԻՊ-ի եւ ահաբեկչության դեմ մղվող պայքարում»,- հավելել Է ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը:
Ինչպես պնդում Է The Washington Post հրատարակությունը,  Թրամփը մայիսի 10-ին Սպիտակ տանը կայացած հանդիպման ժամանակ Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովին գերգաղտնի տեղեկատվություն Է հայտնել «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական կազմակերպության վերաբերյալ:  
Թերթը, վկայակոչելով նախկին եւ գործող պաշտոնյաների, գրում Է, որ տրամադրված տեղեկությունները հարվածի տակ են դրել ԻՊ-ի մասին «հետախուզական տվյալների կարեւորագույն արտասահմանյան աղբյուրին», որը թույլ չԷր տալիս այդ տեղեկատվությունը հաղորդել Ռուսաստանին: Նաեւ նշվում Է, որ Թրամփն իբր Մոսկվային ավելի շատ տեղեկատվություն Է հայտնել, քան իր դաշնակիցներին: 
Ավելի ուշ ԱՄՆ-ի պետքարտուղար Ռեքս Թիլերսոնը հերքել Է այդ հոդվածում շարադրված տեղեկությունները: Նա պնդում Է, որ Լավրովի հետ Թրամփի հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են մի շարք հարցեր, որոնց թվում եղել են համատեղ ջանքերն ահաբեկչության դեմ մղվող պայքարում: Այդ երկխոսության ընթացքում խոսվել Է կոնկրետ սպառնալիքների մասին, բայց կողմերը չեն քննարկել աղբյուրները, մեթոդները կամ մարտական գործողությունները»,- գրել Է The Washington Examiner-ը:   
Նաեւ հերքում Է հետեւել ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահի ազգային անվտանգության հարցերով խորհրդական Հերբերտ Մաքմասթերի կողմից: «Այն,  ինչպես հրատարակությունը նկարագրում այդ պատմությունը, կեղծիք Է»,- հայտարարել Է պաշտոնյան:
Իր հերթին Ռուսաստանի ԱԳ նախարարության պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Մարիա Զախարովան խորհուրդ Է տվել չընթերցել ամերիկյան այն թերթերը, որոնք զբաղվում են մտացածին «սենսացիաների» տարածմամբ: Նա այդ կերպ Է արձագանքել The Washington Post-ի հրապարակումը մեկնաբանելու խնդրանքներին, որտեղ պնդվում Է, թե ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը կարող Էր ՌԴ-ի ԱԳՆ-ի ղեկավար Սերգեյ Լավրովին եւ Վաշինգտոնում Ռուսաստանի դեսպան Սերգեյ Կիսլյակին գերգաղտնի տեղեկատվություն հայտնել անցյալ շաբաթ Սպիտակ տանը կայացած բանակցությունների ժամանակ:  
«Տղանե՛ր, դուք կրկին ամերիկյան թերթեր եք կադացե՞լ: Չպետք Է դրանք կարդալ: Դրանք կարելի Է օգտագործել տարբեր կերպ, բայց կարդալ պետք չԷ. վերջին ժամանակներս դա ոչ միայն վնասակար Է, այլեւ վտանգավոր»,- գրել Է դիվանագետը Facebook-ի իր Էջում, հաղորդել Է «Ինտերֆաքս»-ը:
