 Իսրայելում Թուրքիայի դեսպան Քեմալ Օքեմը  այդ երկրի խորհրդարանում քննարկման դրված «Էզանը բարձրախոսի միջոցով կատարելու արգելքի»  օրինագծի վերաբերյալ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի քննադատական  արտահայտությունների պատճառով կանչվել է Իսրայելի արտգործնախարարություն:

Ապրիլի 8-ին Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը, դիմելով մահմեդականությանը, կոչ է արել որքան հնարավոր է հաճախ այցելել Ալ-Աքսա մզկիթ:

Էրդողանը հայտարարել էր նաև, որ Երուսաղեմը շարունակում է գտնվել Իսրայելի օկուպացիայի տակ և քննադատել է Իսրայելի խորհրդարանում քննարկման դրված օրինագիծը, որով նախատեսվում է արգելել վաղ առավոտյան և ուշ գիշերը կատարվող մուսուլմանական աղոթքի (էզան) բարձրախոսների միջոցով կատարումը:

Էրդողանը այդ օրինագիծը որակել է որպես վիրավորանք մահմեդականների նկատմամբ:

Իսրայելի արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունը, պատասխանելով Էրդողանի արտահայտություններին, հայտարարել է. «նա, ով իր երկրում շարունակաբար խախտում է մարդու իրավունքները չպետք է բարոյականություն և ժողովրդավարության դասեր տա տարածաշրջանում»:

Թուրքիայի և Իսրայելի հարաբերություններում լարվածություն է սկսել առաջանալ այն շրջանից, երբ Թուրքիայում իշխանության են եկել իսլամիստ ԱԶԿ-ականները և դա իր գագաթնակետին է հասել «Մավի Մարմարայի» դեպքից հետո:

2010թ-ի մայիսի 31-ին իսրայելացի զինվորները հարձակվել են միջազգային մարդասիրական նավաշարասյան կազմում Պաղեստինի Գազայի հատված օժանդակություն փոխադրող թուրքական «Մավի Մարմարա» նավի վրա` բեռների ստուգում անցկացնելու վերաբերյալ Թել Ավիվի պահանջներին չենթարկվելու պատճառով:

Հարձակման հետևանքով նավի վրա 9 թուրք քաղաքացիներ էին զոհվել: Անկարան Իսրայելից պահանջում էր պաշտոնապես ներողություն խնդրել և փոխհատուցել տուժածների ընտանիքներին:

Թել Ավիվը ցավ հայտնելով մարդկանց զոհվելու համար` երկար ժամանակ մերժում էր դա, նշելով, որ իր զինված ուժերի գործողությունները համապատասխանում են միջազգային օրենքներին:

Երկարատև բանակցություններից հետո Իսրայելը 2016թ-ի սեպտեմբերի 30-ին ի վերջո Թուրքիայի արդարադատության նախարարության հաշվին փոխանցել էր 20 մլն ԱՄՆ դոլար` որպես փոխհատուցում «Մավի Մարմարա»-ի գործով:

2016թ-ի հոկտեմբերի 13-ին Իսրայելի էներգետիկայի նախարար Յուվալ Շտայնիցը այցելել էր Թուրքիա, և դա 2010թ-ի «Մավի Մարմարա»-ի դեպքից հետո երկրների միջև նախարարների մակարդակով կատարված առաջին այցն էր:
