Գյումրիում հարգեցին Հայրենական մեծ պատերազմի զոհերի հիշատակը: Գյումրիում տեղակայված ՌԴ հյուպատոսարանի, 102-րդ ռազմաբազայի և սահմանապահ ջոկատի նախաձեռնությամբ հիշատակի միջոցառման մասնակիցները եղան Գյումրու թիվ 2 գերեզմանատանը՚ Հայրենական պատերազմի մասնակիցների եղբայրական գերեզմանի մոտ: Մինչ պսակադրությունը, որին մասնակցեցին նաև մարզային եւ քաղաքային իշխանությունների Գյումրու կայազորի ներկայացուցիչներ և զինվորականներ նախ ձեռամբ ռուս ուղղափառ եկեղեցու հովիվ հայր Անդրեյ Վա ցի կատարվեց հոգեհանգստի կարգ: Ներկաները մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգեցին պատերազմի զոհերի հիշատակը:
Եղբայրական գերեզմանը կառուցապատվել է 1975 թվականին: Ամեն տարի, այս օրը հայրենիքի ազատագրման համար իրենց կյանքը զոհած տարբեր ազգերի ավելի քան հարյուր զինվորների հիշատակի կարգ է կատարվում այստեղ: Այստեղ ամփոփված են հիմնականում այն զինվորականների աճյունները, ովքեր, վիրավորվելով Մեծ Հայրենականի ժամանակ, բուժման նպատակով բերվել էին Հայաստան:
«Ամեն տարի բարի ավանդույթի նման մենք հավաքվում ենք այստեղ՝ հիշատակելու բոլոր նրանց, ովքեր իրենց կյանքը զոհեցին հանուն խաղաղության: Մեր երկրները ուս-ուսի անհավանական մի բան արեցին՝ մեզ ապրելու, քաղաքներ ու մեր ապագան կառուցելու հնարավորություն տալով: Ու նրանք այդ ամենն անում էին հաղթանակի հավատով»,-նշեց Հայր Անդրեյը:
1941 թվականի հունիսի 22-ին սկսվեց Հայրենական մեծ պատերազմը: Առանց պատերազմ հայտարարելու գերմանական զորքերը հարձակվեցին Խորհրդային Միության վրա: Պատերազմին զոհ գնաց ավելի քան քսանյոթ միլիոն մարդ: Խորհրդային մյուս երկրների հետ պատերազմին մասնակցում էին նաեւ հայեր, նրանցից 350 հազարը իրենց կյանքը զոհեցին հանուն հայրենիքի:
«Ուզում եմ բոլորին շնորհավորել Մեծ հայրենականի հաղթանակի առթիվ: Մեր հայրերն ու պապերը հաղթանակ տարան եւ աշխարհը փրկեցին ֆաշիզմից՝ ծանր պայմաններում եւ շատ թանկ գնով: Խաղաղությունն այս կյանքում ամենակարևորն է»,- լրագրողների հետ զրույցում նշեց ՌԴ փոխհյուպատոս, հյուպատոսի պաշտոնակատար Ալեքսանդր Կոչեգարովը:
