 Շիրակի մարզում ցեղասպանության 102-րդ տարելիցին նվիրված հիշատակի հիմնական միջոցառումը տեղի է ունենում Հերհերի (Ջարդի) ձորի տարածքում: Օրվա ընթացքում, ինչպես միշտ, մարդաշատ է այս վայրը՝  մարզային ու քաղաքային իշխանությունների, հասարակական կառույցների, բուհերի ներկայացուցիչները հավաքվում են տարածքում տեղադրված անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակը հավերժացնող հուշակոթողի մոտ՝ ծաղիկներ դնելու ու մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգելու ինչպես օսմանյան Թուրքիայի, այնպես էլ ավելի ուշ՝ քեմալական Թուրքիայի կողից զոհ դարձածների հիշա տակը: 
Ըստ պատմական որոշ վկայությունների` 1918-21 թվականներին այս տարածքում է նահատակվել Ալեքպոլ գավառի և Ղարաքիլիսայի 50 գյուղի ավելի քան 12 հազար բնակիչ: Պատմական մեկ այլ աղբյուրի համաձայն՝ հենց այս տարածքում 1920 թվականին Երիտթուրքերի քաղաքականությունը շարունակել է քեմալական Թուրքիան: Սա է պատճառը, որ պատմաբաններն անչափ կարևորում են այս տարածքում լուրջ ուսումնասիրություններ կատարելու անհրաժեշտությունը:
Իսկ այն, որ հայը միշտ պետք է պահանջատեր լինի այս հարցի նկատմամբ «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ ունեցած զրույցի ժամանակ նշեց Գյումրու քաղաքապետ Սամվել Բալասանյանը: «Կապ չունի, թե քանի տարի է անցել, մենք այսօր պետք է կարողանանք պահանջել: Ճիշտ է, աշխարհի շատ պետություններ են ճանաչել Ցեղասպանությունը, բայց պետք է երկրները ճնշում գործադրեն  Թուրքիային վրա՝  ընդունելու համար այս փաստը: Ես այդ ժառանգներից եմ, որ փախել են Արևմտյան Հայաստանից և այստեղ նորից բարգավաճել: Հայ ազգն այս օրը չի կարող մոռանալ»,-նշեց Գյումրու քաղաքապետ  Սամվել Բա լասանյանը:
