Լեւոն Արոնյանի տպավորիչ հաղթանակով ավարտված Grenke Chess Classic մրցաշարի վերջին տուրում հայկական շախմատի առաջատարը սեւերով մրցեց ամերիկացի Ֆաբիանո Կարուանայի հետ եւ վաստակեց կես միավոր: Արդեն նախավերջին տուրում Լեւոն Արոնյանն ապահովել էր առաջին տեղը: Հայ գրոսմայստերի վերջնական արդյունքն է 7 հնարավորից 5.5 միավոր: Երկրորդ տեղը կիսեցին Կարուանան ու աշխարհի չեմպիոն, նորվեգացի Մագնուս Կարլսենը, որոնք վաստակեցին 4-ական միավոր:

Գերմանիայում անցկացված մրցաշարում Լեւոն Արոնյանը ոչ մի պարտություն չկրեց: Նա ոչ ոքի խաղաց գերմանացի Գեորգ Մեյերի, Մագնուս Կարլսենի եւ Կարուանայի հետ, իսկ ֆրանսիացի Մաքսիմ Վաշյե-Լագրավի, գերմանացի Մատիա Բլյոբաումի, Ադրբեջանի ներկայացուցիչ Արկադի Նայդիչի եւ մրցաշարի միակ կին մասնակից, չինացի Հոու Յիֆանի հետ պարտիաներն ավարտեց հաղթանակով:

Այս հաջողության շնորհիվ Արոնյանի անձնական վարկանիշը բարձրացել է 15.3-ով եւ համաշխարհային դասակարգման ինտերակտիվ աղյուսակում նա 9-րդից բարձրացել է 6-րդ տեղ:
