Կանադայի պահպանողական կուսակցության ղեկավար և ընդդիմության առաջնորդ Ռոնա Ամբրոուզը հայտարարություն է տարածել Հայոց ցեղասպանության 102-րդ տարելիցի կապակցությամբ: «Արմենպրես»-ը ներկայացնում է Ռոնա Ամբրոուզի հայտարարությունն ամբողջությամբ.
«Ամեն տարի ապրիլի 24-ին աշխարհը կանգ է առնում հիշելու այն հայ տղամարդկանց, կանանց և երեխաներին, ովքեր 102 տարի առաջ սոսկալի տառապանքներ են կրել և կյանքեր կորցրել:
Դա հիշատակի, ինչպես նաև խորհելու օր է այն իրադարձությունների մասին, որոնք խորը հետք են թողել ժամանակակից աշխարհի վրա: 2006թ-ի Սթիվեն Հարփերի գլխավորած պահպանողական կառավարության կողմից 1915թ. իրադարձությունները ճանաչվել են որպես ցեղասպանություն: Բացի այդ, Կանադայի Սենատը և Ներկայացուցիչների պալատը ևս ընդունել են բանաձևեր, որոնք այդ իրադարձությունները որակում են որպես ցեղասպանություն:
Ամեն տարի Կանադան և այլ երկրներ օգտագործում են այս տարելիցը գոյություն ունեցող հակամարտությունների վրա լույս սփռելու և ցույց տալու, որ դրանք չեն կարող նման ողբերգական ավարտ ունենալ: Դա անում ենք նաև խաղաղ գոյակցությանն ուղղված գլոբալ ջանքերին աջակցելու համար:
Կանադան պետք է շարունակի մնալ մարդու իրավունքների և ժողովրդավարական ազատությունների հպարտ պաշտպանը, որոնք այսօր վտանգի տակ են: Ահա թե ինչու մենք ուրախ ենք տեսնել, որ Կանադայի հայերը և թուրքերը կարող են միասին աշխատել արդյունավետ հարաբերություններ հաստատելու հարցում: Այս տարելիցին ես և պահպանողականների ողջ խորհրդարանական խումբը միանում են բոլոր կանադացիների հիշողությանը և խրախուսում ենք երկու համայնքների ներկայացուցիչներին բարի կամք դրսևորել և շարունակել հաշտեցմանն ուղղված աշխատանքները»:
