Google-ն իր որոնողական գլխավոր էջում դուդլ է տեղադրել Մայր Երկրի միջազգային օրվա կապակացությամբ, որը նշվում է ապրիլի 22-ին։ Դուդլն իրենից ներկայացնում է Երկիր մոլորակի պահպանությանն ուղղված խորհուրդներ՝ ֆոտոպատմությունների տեսքով։

Օրը Բոլիվիայի նախաձեռնությամբ հռչակվել է 2009 թվականի ապրիլի 22­-ին ՄԱԿ-­ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի 63­-րդ նստաշրջանում: Որպես բանաձևի համահեղինակներ հանդես են եկել ՄԱԿ­-ի ավելի քան 50 անդամ պետություններ։

Նստաշրջանի նախագահ Միգել դ’Էսկոտոն հայտարարել էր, որ բանաձևում այս միջազգային օրվա հռչակումն այն բանի ճանաչումն է, որ Երկիրը և իր էկոհամակարգերը մեր տունն են, որոնք կյանք են ապահովում։

Երկիր մոլորակի օրը նշելու ավանդույթը ծնունդ է առել ԱՄՆ­-ում բնապահպան ակտիվիստ Գեյլորդ Նելսոնի նախաձեռնությամբ: 1970 թվականի ապրիլի 22-­ին Երկիր մոլորակի օրը նշվել է առաջին անգամ: 1990 թվականին այս օրը դարձել է միջազգային ակցիա, որին 200 միլիոն մարդ է մասնակցել աշխարհի 141 երկրներում:

Միջազգային օրվա նպատակն է գրավել հանրության ուշադրությունը մեր մոլորակի բնապահպանական խնդիրների վրա։ Օրը նշվում է ավելի քան 192 երկրներում։ Տարբեր երկրներում այս օրը կազմակերպում են բազմազան միջոցառումներ և ակցիաներ, ներառյալ խորհրդաժողովներ, ցուցահանդեսներ, խոշոր քաղաքների բանուկ փողոցներում ավտոմոբիլային երթևեկության փակում, տարածքի մաքրում և ծառատունկ:
