Համաշխարհային բանկը աղքատության նշագիծը օրական 1,25 դոլարից բարձրացրել Է մինչեւ 1,9 դոլար: Այդ մասին,  հայտնել Է ՀԲ-ի նախագահ Ջիմ Են Կիմը:

«Աղքատության նոր նշագիծը կազմում Է օրական 1,9 դոլար»,-նշել Է նա Վաշինգտոնում լրագրողների հետ կայացած զրույցի ժամանակ:

Ամերիկացի փորձագետների կարծիքով, որոնք ավելի վաղ աղքատության շեմի հնարավոր բարձրացման մասին իմացել են ԶԼՄ-ներից, դա կհանգեցնի այն բանին, որ ամբողջ աշխարհում աղքատության նշագծից ցած ապրողների թիվը կհամալրվի միլիոնավոր մարդկանցով:

Ջիմ Են Կիմի խոսքով՝ ՀԲ-ի որոշման վրա ազդել Է աշխարհում գնողունակության նվազումը: «Մենք վերցրել ենք 15 ամենաաղքատ երկրները եւ մանրակրկիտ ուսումնասիրել այն բանի բոլոր ասպեկտները, թե մարդիկ ինչպես են ապրում այդ երկրներում, հատկապես նրանց սպառողական զամբյուղը»,-նշել Է բանկի նախագահը: Հետազոտության արդյունքում փորձագետները եկել են այն եզրակացության, որ այսօր աղքատներին օրական 1,9 դոլարի եկամուտ Է պահանջվում այն մթերքները գնելու համար, որոնք նրանք 1,25 դոլարով գնում Էին 2008 թվականին, պարզաբանել Է կազմակերպության ղեկավարը:

ՀԲ-ն առաջին անգամ աղքատության շեմ Է սահմանել 1990 թվականին: Այն ժամանակ որպես դրա ցուցանիշ ընդունվել Էր օրական 1 դոլարից պակաս եկամուտը: Ավելի ուշ այն ավելացվեց մինչեւ 1,25 դոլար: Հուլիսին ՄԱԿ-ի ներկայացրած զեկույցի համաձայն՝ այսօրվա դրությամբ աշխարհում 836 մլն մարդ ապրում Է օրական 1,25 դոլարից պակաս եկամուտով այն դեպքում, երբ 1990 թվականին այդ թիվը կրկնակի ավելի մեծ Էր՝ 1,9 միլիարդ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:-
