Հայաստանը պատրաստվում է ավելացնել Իրանի Իսլամական Հանրապետությունից ներմուծվող գազի ծավալները` միաժամանակ ավելացնելով էլեկտրաէներգիայի արտահանումը Իրան: Վկայակոչելով իրանական լրատվամիջոցները, Թեհրանում կայացած հանդիպմանը նման պայմանավորվածություն են ձեռք բերել ՀՀ էներգետիկայի և բնական պաշարների նախարար Երվանդ Զաքարյանը և Իրանի նավթի նախարար Բիջան Զանգանեհին:

ԻԻՀ նախարարը նշել է, որ այդ հարցում հայ-իրանական համագործակցության ձևաչափը շարունակելու է մնալ նույնը` հավելելով, որ գործարքի մանրամասները քննարկվելու են առաջիկայում: Զանգանեհիի փոխանցմամբ` Հայաստանի Հանրապետության վարչապետ Հովիկ Աբրահամյանի պաշտոնական հրավերով մոտ օրերս Հայաստան կայցելի Իրանի վարչապետ Էսհաղ Ջահանգիրին:

Հայաստանի և Իրանի միջև «Իրան-Հայաստան գազատարի կառուցման պայմանագիրը» կնքվել է 2004 թվականին:  Իրանի գազի արտահանման ազգային ընկերության կառավարիչ տնօրեն Ալիրեզա Քամելիին «Շանա» գործակալությանը տված հարցազրույցում հայտնել է, որ Իրանը հնարավորություն ունի տարեկան մոտ 2.3 մլրդ խորանարդ մետր գազ արտահանել Հայաստան: Ներկայումս շահագործվող գազատարի միջոցով օրական կարելի է արտահանել 6 մլն խորանարդ մետր գազ, այնինչ, միայն 3 մլն է արտահանվում: «Քանի որ անհրաժեշտ ենթկառուցվածնքերը չկան Հայաստանում, երկիրը չի կարողանում լիո վին օգտնվել գազատարի հանարավորություններից» ,-նշել է Քամելին:

Իրանցի պաշտոնյան նաև հավելել է, որ Հայաստանը ներկայումս նախատեսում է կառուցել նոր` 400 կիլովոլտանոց էլեկտրահաղորդման գիծ և խնդրել է Իրանին մատակարարել նոր գործարանի գործարկման համար անհրաժեշտ բնական գազ:
