Ժամանակն է հիշել հայտնի քաղաքական գործիչներից մեկի խոսքը. «Ես նույնպես սխալվում եմ, բայց երբեք նույն սխալը երկու անգամ թույլ չեմ տալիս»: Մինչև ռուսական ռազմական ինքնաթիռի խոցումը Թուրքիայի ձեռքում երկու խաղաքարտ կար՝ ԱՄՆ-ի և Ռուսաստանի: երբ նրանցից որևէ մեկը արտաքին քաղաքականության մեջ ճնշում էր գործադրում Թուրքիայի վրա, նա կարողանում էր որոշ չափով զսպել նրան՝ սեղանին դնելով մյուս խաղաքարտը:
«Հավասարակշռության» նման քաղաքականություն Թուրքիան գործադրում է Աբդուլ Համիդի ժամանակներից ի վեր: ԱՄՆ-ը Ինջիրլիքի ռազմաբազան ԴԱԻՇ-ի դեմ գործողությունների համար օգտագործելու նպատակով և նվազեցնելու համար Անկարայի առարկությունների հաճախականությունը՝ «Սիրիայի ժողովրդավարական ուժերին»՝ PYD, աջակցելու պատճառով, ցանկացավ «դաս տալ» Թուրքիային: Դրա համար ԱՄՆ-ին պետք էր, որ Թուրքիան այլևս չունենա իր ձեռքում ռուսական խաղաքարտը: Ռուսական ինքնաթիռը ոչնչացնելով՝ Թուրքիան թակարդն ընկավ: Արդյունքում՝ Թուրքիայի և Ռուսաստանի հարաբերությունները բարդացան: Թուրքիայի ձեռքում այլևս չկար ռուսական խաղաքարտը, որը նա կարող էր ԱՄՆ-ի ճնշման դեպքում դնել սեղանին:
ԱՄՆ-ը վստահորեն շարունակեց աջակցել PYD-ին: Նման իրավիճակ ստեղծվեց նաև Սիրիայում քաոսային իրավիճակի ստեղծման առաջին տարիներին: Թուրքիայի և Սիրիայի հարաբերությունները մինչ այդ ամենալավ վիճակում էին: Եվ հանկարծ Ասադը դարձավ ատելի թշնամի: Այժմ ԱՄՆ-ը հրթիռակոծութան է ենթարկել սիրիական ռազմաբազան:
Հակամարտության մեջ ներքաշվել են մի կողմից ԱՄՆ-ը, ԵՄ-ը և Սաուդյան Արաբիան, մյուս կողմից Ռուսաստանը և Իրանը; Անկարան այս իրավիճակում պաշտպանել է ԱՄՆ-ին: Բայց պետք է զգոն լինել՝ չկրկնելու համար նախկին սխալները: Թրամփի նպատակը Ասադին տապալելը չէ, այլ իր երկրի ներսում հզոր նախագահի իմիջի ստեղծումը: Ի դեպ, Վաշինգտոնը արդեն հայտարարել է, որ մտադիր է Ռուսաստանի հետ համատեղ շարունակել պայքարը ԴԱԻՇ-ի դեմ:
