Աշխարհում ամենահայտնի ընկերությունները երբեմն ստիպված են լինում արտասահմանյան շուկաներում փոխել իրենց անվանումները, քանի որ զավեշտալի թարգմանությունների պատճառով հայտնվում են բարդ դրության մեջ:

1. KFC

Երբ 1987 թ. KFC-ն իր առաջին ռեստորանը բացեց Պեկինում։ Նրա կարգախոսը հետևյալն էր՝ «Այնքան համեղ է, որ մատներդ հետը կուտես»: Չինացիները սա թարգմանեցին՝ «Մենք կուտենք ձեր մատները»:

2. Coors

Ամերիկյան գարեջուր արտադրող ընկերությունը հաշվի չէր առել, որ իր՝ «Թուլացիր» կարգախոսը իսպանացիները կթարգմանեին «Տանջվիր փորլուծությունից»:

3. Clairol

Այս ընկերությունը 2006 թ. սկսեց պինցետների արտադրություն, որոնք կոչվեցին Mist Stick: Դրանք լավ արձագանք ստացան, սակայն Գերմանիայում խնդիր առաջացավ: Գերմաներենում սրանց անունը թարգմանվում էր որպես «Գոմաղբից պինցետներ», հետևաբար՝ ապրանքը անհաջողություն կրեց այս երկրում:

4. Got milk?

Կաթնամթերքի արտադրությամբ զբաղվող ամերիկյան մի ընկերություն ակցիա անցկացրեց հետևյալ խորագրով. «Got milk?» (Դու ունե՞ս կաթ): Ակցիան, հասնելով Մեքսիկա, տապալվեց մի պարզ պատճառով. այն թարգմանվեց հետևյալ կերպ «Դուք կերակրող մա՞յր եք»:

5. Pepsi

Պեպսիի հետևյալ կարգախոսը. «Առաջարկում ենք կյանք վերադառնալ» չինարենում այսպես թարգամանվեց. «Մենք գերեզմաններից կվերադարձնենք ձեր հարազատներին»:

6. Puffs

Անձեռոցիկներ արտադրող այս ընկերության անվանումը գերմաներեն խոսակցական լեզվում օգտագործվում է որպես «հասարակաց տուն»: Բացի այդ՝ այն վիրավորական արտահայտություն է համարվում նաև անգլիացի հոմոսեքսուալիստների համար:

7. Coca-cola

Չինարեն Coca-Cola-ն թարգմանվում է որպես «շերեփուկ կերեք»: Ընկերությունը ստիպված էր որևէ կերպ հնչողությունը պահպանելով իր արտադրանքը հենց չինարեն անվանել՝可口可乐, որը կարդացվում էր այսպես. «Կե Կու Կե Լե» և թարգմանվում էր որպես՝ «Երջանկությունը բերանի մեջ»:
