Суд принял сторону 46-летней Мелании Трамп в разбирательстве против газеты Daily Mail. Супруга американского президента добилась от руководства издания извинений и денежной компенсации за клевету.
Суд обязал издание Daily Mail выплатить Мелании Трамп три миллиона долларов за публикацию недостоверных сведений, порочащих честь и достоинство и наносящих вред деловой репутации.
На сайте газеты уже появилась колонка с извинениями в адрес жены Дональда Трампа. Редакция издания признала, что в своем материале «поставила под вопрос характер ее (Мелании Трамп) работы в качестве профессиональной модели и перепечатало утверждения о том, что она оказывала услуги, выходящие за рамки модельных».
«Мы признаем, что эти утверждения по поводу миссис Трамп не являются правдивыми, мы отказываемся от них. Мы приносим свои извинения миссис Трамп за любые страдания, которые они ей доставили», — говорится в сообщении. Скандальный материал, в котором сообщалось, что до того, как стать супругой Дональда Трампа, Мелания занималась эскортом, вышел в 2016 году. Бывшая модель немедленно отреагировала на публикацию. Первая леди дала опровержение и заявила, что подаст на газету в суд.
