 Պոլսո Հայոց պատրիարքական ընդհանուր փոխանորդ Արամ արքեպիսկոպոս Աթեշյանը հայտարարել է, որ պատրիարքական տեղապահ ընտրված Գարեգին արքեպիսկոպոս Բեքչյանն Սուրբ Փրկիչ հիվանդանոց հրավիրելիս նրան տեղյակ է պահել գրավոր առաջարկի տեսքով համաձայնության նախագիծ ներկայացնելու մասին: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին Աթեշյանը խոսել է Ստամբուլի հայկական «Ժամանակ» օրաթերթի հետ զրույց ում:

Նա նաև անդրադարձել է Բեքչյանի կողմից ապրիլի 11-ին հրապարակած հայտարարությանը` անդրադառնալով իր պաշտոնից հրաժարվելու համառության վերաբերյալ տեղապահի դիտարկմանը:

«Մենք փորձում ենք հասնել մեր եկեղեցական իրավունքի և պետության ակնկալիքների համադրությանը: Այս նույն նպատակով պատրաստել էինք այն համաձայնության նախագիծը, որը մերժվել է Գարեգին արքեպիսկոպոս Բեքչյանի կողմից: Այդ համաձայնության նպատակներից մեկն էր բարձր պահել մեր Եկեղեցական համագումարի հեղինակությունը: Եթե Գարեգին արքեպիսկոպոս Բեքչյանը համաձայներ ընդառաջ գնալ այդ նախագծին, ապա մենք մեր միջև գոյացած համաձայնության հիման վրա նոր քայլեր անելու հնարավորություն էլ կկարողանայինք ունենալ: Նման համաձայնության պարագայում շոշափելի լուման արդյունքի մասին տեղեկացնելու համար պետք է փորձեինք հերթական անգամ միասնաբար ներկայանալ Ստամբուլի նահանգապետարան: Սուրբ Փրկիչ ազգային հիվանդանոցի հոգաբարձուների խորհրդի նախագահ Պետրոս Շիրինօղլուն էլ պետք է աջակցեր մեզ: Այսպիսով, ես կկարողանայի անձամբ պատկան իշխանություններին ներկայացնել ընտրյալ տեղապահին, ինչ-որ երաշխիք պիտի  լիներ իր գործունեության հեռանկարի և պաշտոնական մարմինների կողմից ապագա ընկալման համար: Այս բոլոր նրբություններն արդեն բացատրել ենք, սակայն, դժբախտաբար, չկարողացանք ունենալ դրական արդյունք: Հետևաբար, պաշտոնից չհրաժարվելու հարցի շուրջ ինձ վերագրված համառությունն ու այդ հանգամանքի անվերջ կրկնությունն առկա դժվարին իրավիճակում մեր մոտ ստեղծում է լրջության պակասի տպավորություն»,- նշել է նա:

Ապրիլի 13-ի առավոտյան Աթեշյանը Ստամբուլի Սուրբ Աստվածածին եկեղեցում, իսկ Բեքչյանը Սուրբ Ստեփանոս եկեղեցում մատուցել են Ավագ Հինգշաբթի օրվա պատարագ` նվիրված Խորհրդավոր Ընթրիքին:

Ավելի վաղ իր հայտարարության մեջ Բեքչյանն ասել էր, որ տեղյակ չի եղել Աթեշյանի կողմից Սուրբ Փրկիչ հիվանդանոց կանչվելու իրական մտադրության, այն է` համաձայնագիր ստորագրելու մասին: «Արամ Սրբազանը, փոխանակ իր խոստման համաձայն գրավոր կերպով ինձ ներկայացներ ներկա կացության վերաբերյալ իր տեսակետներն ու մոտեցումները, ակնկալում էր, որ ես նույնպես իմ ստորագրո ւթյունը կդնեմ իր կողմից պատրաստված այսպես կոչված «համաձայնագրի» տակ, որն իր խորքային առումով առ ոչինչ է համարում Եկեղեցական համագումարի կամքն ու որոշումը, միայն առերես է ճանաչում տեղապահի օրինավոր ընտրությունը, զրկում է ընտրյալ Տեղապահին իր բոլոր լիազորություններից և փորձում է օրինականացնել «Պատրիարքական Ընդհանուր Փոխանորդի» պաշտոնից հրաժարվելու իր < /i>համառումը»,- ասվում էր արքեպիսկոպոս Բեքչյանի հայտարարության մեջ:
