Հայաստանում 2015 թվականի սահմանադրական բարեփոխումներից հետո 2017թ. ապրիլի 2-ի առաջին խորհրդարանական ընտրություններն արտասահմանի համար անցան աննկատ, մինչդեռ այդ քվեարկությունը որոշիչ էր Եվրոպայի ծայրամասում գտնվող փոքր քրիստոնեական երկրի համար, որը չունի ելք դեպի ծով ու գտնվում է Վրաստանի ու Իրանի, Թուրքիայի ու Ադրբեջանի միջև: Ընտրությունների արդյունքում հաղթեց Հայաստանի հանրապետական կուսակցությունը: Հայաստանը, թերևÕ ½, դարձել է չհայտարարված փորձադաշտ, թե ինչպես կարելի է մի կողմ թողնել տարաձայնությունները մեծ բլոկների, Ռուսաստանի և Եվրամիության միջև: Հայաստանն Արևելյան գործընկերության առաջին երկրներից էր, որ ավարտին հասցրեց Ասոցացման համաձայնագրի, այդ թվում՝ Խորը և համապարփակ ազատ առևտրի գոտու շուրջ բանակցային գործընթացը: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին EU Observer-ում հրապարակած հոդվածում նշել են «Հայաստանի եվրոպացի բարեկամներ» կազմակերպության Գլխավոր քարտուղար Մայքլ Քեմբեքը և կազմակերպության տնօրեն Դիոգ ո Պինտոն` նշելով, որ Հայաստանի կառավարությունը, թեպետ ԵՄ հետ գործընթացը միառժամանակ դադարեցրեց` հայտարարելով Եվրասիական տնտեսական միությանն անդամակցելու մասին, սակայն չգնաց Ուկրաինայի, Վրաստանի կամ Ադրբեջանի ճանապարհով:
«Երկիրն ընտրեց իր ճանապարհը` ձգտելով օգուտ քաղել բոլոր մեծ միջազգային խաղացողների հետ լավ հարաբերություններից` փորձելով խուսափել նրանց միջև հակասություններից տուժելուց: Այս հավասարակշռված և ռացիոնալ արտաքին և անվտանգության քաղաքականությունը ընտրություններում հաղթանակ տարած Հանրապետական կուսակցությունը քարոզարշավի ժամանակ օգտագործեց որպես ամենակարևոր կետ»,- նշել են հոդվածի հեղինակները:
Պատասխանելով հարցին` արդյոք Հայաստանի խորհրդարանական ընտրությունները, որոնց անցկացման գործում Եվրամիությունը ներդրել էր ավելի քան 7 միլիոն եվրո, անցան ԵՄ ժողովրդավարության թեստը` Մայքլ Քեմբեքը և Դիոգո Պինտոն ընդգծում են, որ ԵՄ տրամադրած գումարի արդյունավետության ապացույցն էին ողջ երկրում տեղադրված մատնահետքերի նույնականացման սարքերը, որոնք բացառում էին կրկնաքվեարկությունը, ընտրատեղամասերում և քվեների հաշվիչ սենյակներում տեսահսկող սարքերի տեղադրումը:
«Առաջին նշանները ցույց են տալիս, որ Եվրամիությունը կառուցողական կարձագանքի և կողջունի նման արդյունքը: Դա նշանակում է, որ Սերժ Սարգսյանի պաշտոնավարման վերջին տարվա ընթացքում Հայաստանի և ԵՄ միջև խորացված համագործակցության նոր գլուխ կարող է սկսվել»,- եզրակացրել են հոդվածի հեղինակները` ընդգծելով, որ դրա համար անհրաժեշտ են ավելի շատ քայլեր:
