Մեծ Բրիտանիան մտադիր Է G7-ի գործընկերներից հասնել նոր հակառուսական պատժամիջոցների սահմանման: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, հայտնել Է The Times-ը:
Լոնդոնի կարծիքով՝ դա պետք Է արվի ի պատիժ Սիրիայի նախագահ Բաշար Ասադի ռեժիմին ցուցաբերվող աջակցության, որը, ինչպես պնդում Է բրիտանական կողմը, քիմիական զենք Է կիրառել Իդլիբում:
«Արտաքին գործերի նախարար Բորիս Ջոնսոնը արեւմտյան երկրներից «շատ խիստ պատժամիջոցներ Է պահանջելու ի պատիժ» ապստամբների կողմից վերահսկվող տարածքում իրականացված քիմիական գրոհի… Պատժամիջոցներ նախատեսող փաստաթողթը պատրաստաված Է G7-ի ԱԳ նախարարությունների ղեկավարների նիստի համար, որը տեղի կունենա Իտալիայի Լուկկայի մարզում»,- ասված Է հրապարակման մեջ:
Ջոնսոնը պնդում Է, որ սահմանափակումները մտցվեն այն դեպքում, եթե Մոսկվան չհրաժարվի աջակցել Ասադին:
Ապրիլի 9-ին ՄԱԿ-ին առընթեր ԱՄՆ-ի մշտական ներկայացուցիչ Նիկի Հեյլին հայտնել Է, որ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփն իր վարչակազմի անդամների հետ քննարկում Է Ռուսաստանի դեմ նոր պատժամիջոցների կիրառման հնարավորությունը՝ Սիրիային նրա աջակցության համար:
Նույն օրը Ջոն Մաքքեյնը հայտարարել Է, որ Սպիտակ տունը մասնակիորեն պատասխանատվություն Է կրում Իդլիբում իրականացված քիմիական գրոհի համար:
Լույս ապրիլի 7-ի գիշերը ամերիկյան նավերը թեւավոր հրթիռներով հարված են հասցրել Սիրիայի տարածքին: Ինչպես հայտնել Է Պենտագոնի ներկայացուցիչը, 59 «Թոմահավք» հրթիռներ են արձակվել Հոմս քաղաքի շրջանում սիրական կառավարական զորքերի «Շայրաթ» ավիաբազայի տարածքին:
Պենտագոնը պնդում Է, որ հենց այդ ավիաբազայից Է ապրիլի 4-ի առավոտյան սիրիական օդուժը հարված հասցրել Իդլիբի նահանգի Խան Շեյխուն քաղաքին՝ կիրառելով քիմիական զենք:
