Երևանի Խուլ ու համրերի կենտրոնում, որտեղ տեղակայված է 9/47 ընտրատեղամասը, իր քաղաքացիական պարտքը կատարեց ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարար, ՀՀԿ ցուցակը գլխավորող Վիգեն Սարգսյանը:

«Ես մաղթում եմ բոլորին հանգիստ ընտրություն: Վստահ եմ, որ այդպես էլ լինելու է: Բազմաթիվ քայլեր են իրականացվել, առաջին անգամ է, որ հետխորհրդային տարածքում խորհրդարանական մեծամասնությունը և ընդդիմությունը համատեղ ջանքեր են գործադրել` ստեղծելով այնպիսի օրենսդրական դաշտ, այնպիսիս մեխանիզմներ, որոնք վստահություն են ներշնչում յուրաքանչյուր քաղաքացու, որ իր ձայնը տեղ է հասնում, իր ձայնը որոշելու է առաջիկա հինգ տարիների քաղաքական դասավորվածությունը»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ ասաց նա:

Հայաստանում Ազգային ժողովի հերթական ընտրությունների քվեարկությունը սկսվեց առավոտյան ժամը 08:00-ին: Բացվեցին հանրապետության ողջ տարածքում ձևավորված 13 ընտրատարածքների 2009 տեղամասերը: Քվեարկությունը կավարտվի երեկոյան ժամը 20:00-ին, որից հետո կսկսվի ձայների հաշվարկը: ՀՀ ոստիկանության հրապարակած վերջին տվյալներով՝ ընտրելու իրավունք ունեցող քաղաքացիների ընդհանուր թիվն է` 2 միլիոն 564 հազար 195, հաշվառում չունեցող ընտրողների թիվը ` 915: Ստացիոնար բուժում իրականացնող բժշկական հաստատությունում գտնվող ընտրողների թիվն, ըստ տվյալների,  2001 է:

Տեղամասային ընտրական հանձնաժողովի անդամների թիվը` 28 հազար 277 է: Ընտրական տեղամասեր գործուղվել են ոստիկանության 197 ծառայողներ: Ազգային ժողովի ընտրությունները կլուսաբանի 120 լրատվամիջոց (89 տեղական և 31 միջազգային) և 55 դիտորդական կազմակերպություն:

 Հայաստանի Ազգային ժողովի հերթական ընտրություններին մասնակցելու համար առաջադրվել է 9 քաղաքական ուժ` Հայաստանի Հանրապետական, «Հայկական վերածնունդ», «Ազատ դեմոկրատներ», «Հայ Յեղափոխական Դաշնակցություն», Հայաստանի Կոմունիստական կուսակցությունները, ինչպես նաև «Ելք», «Ծառուկյան», «Օհանյան-Րաֆֆի-Օսկանյան» և «Կոնգրես-ՀԺԿ» դաշինքները:
