1. Արցունքները հանում են լարվածությունը

30 տարի առաջ կենսաքիմիկոս Ալեքս Գեթսը հայտնաբերեց, որ էմոցիոնալ արցունքները իրենց մեջ ավելի շատ սպիտակուց են պարունակում, քան ոչ էմոցիոնալ արցունքները (օրինակ սոխ կտրատելուց առաջացած արցունքները), ինչը վկայում է այն մասին, որ կարևոր ֆիզիոլոգիական և հոգեբանական փոփոխություններ են տեղի ունենում օրգանիզմում, երբ մենք լացում ենք։

Նա արտահայտեց դա այսպես. «Արցունքները ծառայում են կարևոր նպատակի համար։ Էմոցիոնալ արցունքները, որոնք թափվում են ուժեղ զգացմունքի պահին, իրենց մեջ կրում են սթրեսային հորմոններ և իրենցից ներկայացնում են սթրեսից ազատվելու միջոց։ Նույնիսկ եթե ամաչում եք լացելուց, դա վկայում է այն մասին, որ դուք հասել եք սթրեսի այնպիսի մակարդակի, որը մեծ վնաս է հասցնում ձեր առողջությանը»։
