Աուտիզմի զարգացման համար «մեղավոր» են գեները

Բրիտանացի գիտնականները պնդում են, որ երեխաների մոտ աուտիզմի զարգացման պատճառ գրեթե միշտ գեներն են,: Մասնագետների պնդմամբ 98 %-ի դեպքերում մեղավոր են գեները: Այս ցուցանիշը շատ ավելի մեծ է, քան ընդունված էր կարծել նախկինում:
Մի շարք հետազոտություններ որպես աուտիզմի պատճառ նշում էին MMR պատվաստումները (պատվաստում երեք հիվանդության դեմ՝ կարմրուկ, խոզուկ, կարմրախտ), էկոլոգիական պատճառները եւ արտաքին ազդեցության մի շարք այլ գործոններ:
Այժմ գիտնականներին հաջողվել է ապացուցել, որ աուտիզմը գրեթե բացառապես ժառանգական հիվանդություն է: Այսօր աուտիզմի դեպքերն արձանագրվում են շատ ավելի հաճախ, քան նախկինում: Այդ պատճառով գիտնականները կարծում են, որ այն կարող է արտաքին գործոններով պայմանավորված լինել: Որոշ տվյալների համաձայն՝ աուտիզմով տառապում է մեր մոլորակի յուրաքանչյուր 100-րդ բնակիչ:
Բրիտանացի գիտնականները համոզված են, որ կենսակերպն ու էկոլոգիական գործոնները պատասխանատու են աուտիզմի դեպքերի ընդամենը 2 %-ի համար:
Մասնագետներն այս եզրահանգման են եկել այն բանից հետո, երբ համեմատել են մեկ ձվաբջջից զարգացած եւ ընդհանուր ԴՆԹ ունեցող երկվորյակների եւ տարբեր ձվաբջիջներից զարգացած ու գեների միայն կեսի համընկնում ունեցող երկվորյակների վարքը:
