Հայ-իտալական օրակարգի կարևորագույն բաղկացուցիչներից մեկն առևտրատնտեսական հարաբերություններն են. վերջին 4 տարվա ընթացքում, չնայած գլոբալ ֆինանսատնտեսական ճգնաժամին, երկու երկրների միջև առևտրաշրջանառությունն զգալիորեն մեծացել է: Ավելին՝ նախորդ տարվա ցուցանիշով, Իտալիան ԵՄ երկրների շարքում Հայաստանի 2-րդ առևտրային գործընկերն է (Գերմանիայից հետո): ԱՄՆ-ում կայացած հանդիպման ժամանակ ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանն ու Իտալիայի վարչապետ Մատեո Ռենցին համոզմունք են հայտնել, որ սա վկայում է, որ ավելի լավ արդյունքների հասնելու լուրջ ներուժ կա, որի ուղղությամբ անհրաժեշտ է ակտիվ ջանքեր ներդնել:
Հանդիպման շրջանակներում Սերժ Սարգսյանը և Մատեո Ռենցին քննարկել են հայ-իտալական քաղաքական երկխոսության և առևտրատնտեսական փոխգործակցության օրակարգի հարցերի լայն շրջանակ, անդրադարձել նաև միջազգային կազմակերպությունների շրջանակներում երկու երկրների համագործակցությանը:
Զրուցակիցները երկուստեք գոհունակությամբ են ընդգծել, որ Հայաստանի և Իտալիայի միջպետական կապերը մշտապես զարգացել են փոխըմբռնման ոգով, սակայն, նրանց կարծիքով, երկու երկրների ներուժը թույլ է տալիս առավել սերտացնել երկկողմ հարաբերությունները: ՀՀ Նախագահը և Իտալիայի վարչապետը կարևորել են երկու երկրների միջև կայուն քաղաքական երկխոսության ակտիվացումը, որին, զրուցակիցների համոզմամբ, կարող են զգալիորեն նպաստել հաճախակի փոխայցերը: Այդ համատեքստում Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը ջերմությամբ է հիշել ս.թ. ապրիլին Իտալիա կատարած իր պաշտոնական այցը և դրա ընթացքում Նախագահ Սերջո Մատարելայի հետ ունեցած բովանդակալից ու հետաքրքիր հանդիպումը:
Հանրապետության Նախագահն ընդգծել է, թե համատեղ ջանքերով երկու երկրները կարող են որակական նոր մակարդակի բարձրացնել հայ-իտալական միջպետական հարաբերությունները, ինչպես նաև` համագործակցությունը Եվրոպական Միության շրջանակներում։
Սերժ Սարգսյանն ընդգծել է, որ Իտալիան Հայաստանի համար կարևոր է նաև որպես ԵՄ առաջատար երկիր, որի հետ համընդգրկուն համագործակցության զարգացումը շարունակում է ծանրակշիռ տեղ զբաղեցնել Հայաստանի արտաքին քաղաքական օրակարգում։ Նախագահը հույս է հայտնել, որ Իտալիան կշարունակի աջակցել ՀՀ-ԵՄ ընթացիկ օրակարգÕ « իրականացմանը:
Հանրապետության Նախագահը կարևորել է 2012թ-ից հայ-իտալական երկկողմ հարաբերությունների օրակարգում իր ուրույն տեղն զբաղեցնող ռազմական փոխգործակցությունը` ընդգծելով, որ ռազմական ոլորտում համագործակցությունը չի սահմանափակվում երկկողմ ձևաչափով․ անցյալ նոյեմբերից 32 հայ խաղաղապահ ՄԱԿ-ի խաղաղապահ ուժերի իտալական հրամանատարության ներքո ծառայություն է իրականացնում Լիբանանում, ինչը, ըստ Նախագահի, հիրավի, կարելի է համարել հայ-իտալական համագործակցության հաջողված օրինակ։
ՀՀ Նախագահը և Իտալիայի վարչապետը հանդիպմանը երկուստեք կարևորել են նաև խորհրդարանական դիվանագիտության նշանակությունը երկկողմ հարաբերությունների զարգացման գործում:
ՀՀ Նախագահը և Իտալիայի վարչապետն անդրադարձել են նաև տարածաշրջանային խնդիրներին և մարտահրավերներին, այդ թվում` ԼՂ հիմնախնդրի խաղաղ կարգավորման բանակցային գործընթացի ներկա փուլին և առկա խնդիրներին: Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանն ընդգծել է, որ որպես բարեկամ երկիր՝ Հայաստանի համար կարևոր է Իտալիայի շարունակական հավասարակշռված դիրքորոշումը ԼՂ հիմնահարցում։
