Հայաստանի Բարձրագույն խմբի առաջնության 8-րդ տուրի կենտրոնական խաղում ներկայիս առաջատար «Ալաշկերտը» հյուրընկալում է գործող չեմպիոն «Փյունիկին»:
Հանդիպումը մեծ կարևորություն ունի թիմերի համար, քանի որ մրցաշարային աղյուսակի վերնամասում պայքարը բավականին սուր է: 7 տուրերից հետո առանց պարտության «Ալաշկերտը» 17 միավորով գլխավորում է աղյուսակը, իսկ Սարգիս Հովսեփյանի գլխավորած թիմը 11 միավորով 4-րդն է: Երեկ հաղթանակ տարած «Գանձասար Կապանն» առաջատարին զիջում է արդեն 2 միավորով, ուստի առաջընթացը շարունակելու համար Աբրահամ Խաշմանյանի թիմին հաղթանակ է անհրաժեշտ: «Փյունիկի» համար հաղթանակը մեծ կարևորություն ունի, քանի որ 3 միավորը թույլ կտա հավասարվել եռյակը եզրափակող «Շիրակին»:
Թիմերը հանդիպել են ընթացիկ առաջնության մեկնարկային տուրում. Վարազդատ Հարոյանը գոլին Հեբեր Արաուխոն դուբլով էր պատասխանել՝ 2:1:
Հայաստանի Բարձրագույն խմբի նախորդ առաջնությունում 4 դիմակայություններից 3-ում «Փյունիկը» հաղթել է 2:0, 1:0 և 3:1 հաշիվներով. 10-րդ տուրում կայացած գոլառատ խաղում գրանցվել է 3:3 հաշիվը: Կողմերի դիմակայությունը 11 խաղից է բաղկացած. «Փյունիկը» հաղթանակների կրկնակի առավելություն ունի՝ 6-ն ընդդեմ 3-ի:
«Ալաշկերտը» և «Փյունիկը» նույն կերպ են մոտենում խաղին. չեմպիոնը 3 օր առաջ կայացած Սուպերգավաթի խաղում 3:0 հաշվով հաղթել է «Միկային», իսկ «Ալաշկերտը» 7-րդ տուրում հյուրընկալվելիս 2:1 հաշվով հաղթել է «Շիրակին»:
Ընթացիկ առաջնությունում «Ալաշկերտն» առայժմ ամենաշատ գոլ խփած և ամենաքիչը բաց թողած թիմն է՝ 14:5: «Ալաշկերտի» հետ համեմատ՝ «Փյունիկի» ֆուտբոլիստները մեկ գոլ պակաս են խփել և մեկն էլ ավել բաց թողել: 
Հատկանշական է, որ լավագույն ռմբարկուների ցանկը 5-ական գոլով գլխավորում են «Ալաշկերտի» հարձակվողներ Հեբերը և Միհրան Մանասյանը: «Փյունիկի» լավագույն ռմբարկուները ներկա դրությամբ Վարդան Պողոսյանը և Վարդգես Սաթումյանն են, որոնց ակտիվում կա 3 գոլ:
