Ամերիկացի սենատորները՝ թե դեմոկրատներ, թե հանրապետականներ, ծրագրում են Սենատի քննարկմանը ներկայացնել օրինագիծ, որը ենթադրում է կոնգրեսի կողմից նախագահի վարչակազմի հանդեպ խիստ հսկողություն ու վետոյի իրավունքի կիրառում։ Սենատորների նախաձեռնությունը կապակցված է նրանց այն մտավախությունների հետ, որ Դոնալդ Թրամփը կարող է թուլացնել Ռուսաստանի հանդեպ պատժամիջոցները, փոխանցում է CNN–ը։
Օրենքը Սպիտակ տնից պահանջում է մանրամասն հաշվետվություն այն մասին, թե ինչու է որոշում կայացվում Ռուսաստանի նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցների թուլացնելու մասին։ Որից հետո Կոնգրեսը 120 օրվա ընթացքում կքննի այդ հարցը ու այն քվեարկության կդնի։
