Ռիչարդ Միլսն արդեն ուղիղ երկու տարի է, ինչ զբաղեցնում է Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում Միացյալ Նահանգների դեսպանի պաշտոնը: Պաշտոնավարման երկրորդ տարվա կապակցությամբ նա հայտարարություն է արել` նշելով, որ Հայաստանում անցկացրած տարիների ընթացքում ծանոթացել է բազմաթիվ բարեհաճ ու հյուրընկալ մարդկանց երկրի բոլոր վայրերից: Ստորև «Արմենպրես»-ը ներկայացնում է հայտարարությունն ամբողջութ յամբ.

«Այս երկուշաբթի ես հետադարձ հայացք նետեցի ու հավատս չի գալիս, որ ուղիղ երկու տարի առաջ հենց այս օրը ես երդմամբ ստանձնեցի Հայաստանում 8-րդ ԱՄՆ դեսպանի պաշտոնը: 2015թ. այդ օրն առանձնահատուկ էր նրանով, որ ես նորովի սկսեցի արժևորել իմ հիացմունքն ու սերն ամենայն հայկականի հանդեպ ու նաև որպես դեսպան, ինձ չտեսնված մի հնարավորություն տրվեց, որ ես ի ցույց դնեմ այն ամենը, ինչ կապում է մեր երկու երկրներին՝ սկսած տնտեսական կապերից մինչև ռազմական համագործակցություն, մաեստրո Մալխասից մինչև պուլիցերյան մրցանակակիր բանաստեղծ Բալաքյան և նույնիսկ մինչև Քարդաշյանների ձեռներեց ընտանիք: Ես և Լին մեծ սիրով ծանոթացել ենք բազմաթիվ բարեհաճ ու հյուրընկալ մարդկանց ՝ այս գեղեցիկ երկրի բոլոր վայրերից:

Այստեղ՝ Երևանի մեր նստավայրում սիրով հյուրընկալել եմ բազմաթիվ հայ բարեկամների ու գործընկերների: Ի դեպ, այստեղ Հայաստանում մենք նաև կատու ենք ձեռք բերել, անունը՝ Գոզո: Ժամանելուց ի վեր մեզ համար շատ հետաքրքիր էր հենց տեղացիներից լսել այստեղի անցուդարձի մասին. դա կարող էր լինել մեր տանը, երբ ճաշից հետո մի բաժակ կոնյակ էինք ճաշակում, կամ համաժողովի մեծ սեղանի շուրջ, որտեղ հայկական սուրճ էինք վայելում ու խոսում, զրուցում այն մասին, թե ինչպիսի ապագա են տեսնում երկրի համար ու նշում, թե ինչ կարող է անել Միացյալ Նահանգները օգնելու Հայաստանին դոռնալ ավելի բարեկեցիկ ու ժողովրդավար:

Հայաստանում բոլոր դպրոցականներն անգիր գիտեն ու մեջբերում են ամերիկացի նկարիչ Ռոքվել Քենթի խոսքերն այն մասին, որ աշխարհում Հայաստանից զատ չկա մեկ այլ վայր, որտեղ մեկտեղված են այդքան հրաշալիքներ: Ես ու Լին լիովին համամիտ ենք պ-ն Քենթի հետ, իսկ ամենահրաշալին անկասկած ոգեշունչ մարդիկ են, որոնցով բնակեցված է այս երկիրը, մարդիկ որոնց շնորհիվ Հայաստանը դիմակայել է դաժան պատմությանը ու դիմակայում է մարտահրավերներով լեցուն ներկային: Եվ երկրորդ, ամենահրաշալի բանն այստեղ նվիրված թիմի ՝ հայերից ու ամերիկացիներից կազմված դեսպանատան թիմի հետ աշխատելն է, թիմ, որն ամեն օր լծված է հայ-ամերիկյան բարեկամության ամրապնդման գործին:

Ես ու Լին դեռ այստեղ ենք լինելու ու եթե կան տեղեր, որոնք պետք է անպայման այցելել, եթե կան ուտեստներ, որ պետք է ճաշակել, ապա խնդրում եմ ասել ինձ դրանց մասին»:
