«Հայկական ժամանակ» թերթը գրում է. «Դիվանագիտական մեր աղբյուրները հայտնում են, որ Սերժ Սարգսյանը մեկնելու է Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգներ՝ մասնակցելու Նյու Յորքում սեպտեմբերի 25-27-ին տեղի ունենալիք ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի 70-րդ նստաշրջանին։
Երեկ մեր թղթակիցը Սերժ Սարգսյանի մամուլի խոսնակ Վլադիմիր Հակոբյանին խնդրել է հաստատել կամ հերքել սույն տեղեկությունը։ Նա պատասխանել է. «Այս պահին ոչինչ ասել չեմ կարող»։ Մեր աղբյուրները հայտնում են, որ Նյու Յորքում հնարավոր է տեղի ունենա Սարգսյան-Ալիև հանդիպում, թեպետ ադրբեջանական կողմը առայժմ որևէ հայտարարություն չի արել Ալիևի Նյու Յորք գնալու կամ չգնալու մասին։ ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահներն այս ընթացքում ջանք չէին խնայում Սարգսյան-Ալիև հանդիպում կազմակերպելու համար։ Նման մակարդակով վերջին հանդիպումը տեղի է ունեցել 2014թ. հոկտեմբերի 27-ին, Փարիզում. Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Օլանդի միջնորդությամբ։ ՄԽ համանախագահ Ջեյմս Ուորլիքը նախօրեին հույս էր հայտնել, որ Սարգսյանն ու Ալիևը կհամաձայնեն հանդիպել մինչև տարեվերջ, թեև, քաղաքագետների կանխատեսումներով, Ալիևը դժվար թե ԱՄՆ գնա»։
