 Հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների կարգավորման համար անհրաժեշտ է, որպեսզի լինի 100 տարի առաջ տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունների ամբողջական, լիարժեք ճանաչում: Այդ մասին հայ և թուրք լուսանկարիչների BridgingStories (Կամրջող պատմություններ) խորագրով աշխատանքների ցուցահանդեսի բացման ժամանակ հայտարարեց ՀՀ-ում ԱՄՆ արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Ռիչարդ Միլսը:

«Այս ցուցահանդեսը կարևորվում է նրանով, թե որքան շատ ընդհանրություններ կան հայ և թուրք ժողովուրդների միջև: Այդ ընկալումը կարող է հանգեցնել հաշտեցման, ինչը մենք ցանկանում ենք տեսնել հայ և թուրք ժողովուրդների միջև: Մենք միշտ հստակ նշել ենք, որ հաշտեցման համար անհրաժեշտ է նաև, որպեսզի լինի ամբողջական, լիարժեք ճանաչում 100 տարի առաջ տեղի ունեցած իրադարձությունների: Նման ցուցահանդեսը ցույց է տալիս, թե ինչ ընդհանրություններ կան, դա է ողջ գեղեցկությունը»,- ասաց Միլսը ` ավելացնելով, որ ԱՄՆ-ն ցանկանում է, որպեսզի Հայաստանի և Թուրքիայի միջև հաշտեցում լինի, դա բխում է տարածաշրջանի` Կովկասի շահերից, դա այն է, ինչը կբերի խաղաղություն և կայունություն տարածաշրջանում:

Անդրադառնալով այդ հարցի շուրջ ԱՄՆ նորընտիր նախագահ Դանոլդ Թրամփի դիրքորոշմանը` Միլսը նշեց, որ նա ընտրարաշավի ժամանակ հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների վերաբերյալ որևէ արձագանք չի կատարել: «Առայժմ վաղ է, որպեսզի կարողանամ ասել, թե ինչպիսին կլինի նոր վարչակազմի դիրքորոշումը մի շարք հարցերի վերաբերյալ, այդ թվում այս հարցի»,- ասաց դեսպանը:
