 Թուրքիայի քրդամետ Ժողովուրդների դեմոկրատական կուսակցության անդամ, մեջլիսի պատգամավոր Գարո Փայլանը նշել է, որ մեջլիսում ցեղասպանության մասին խոսելիս նպատակ է ունեցել ուշադրություն հրավիրել անցյալի սխալների վրա: Այս մասին Փայլանն ասել է Dihaber-ի հետ զրույցում:

«Երեկ, երբ մեջլիսում քննարկվում էին սահմանադրական փոփոխությունները, ցանկանում էի, որ անցյալից դասեր քաղեն: Հարյուր տարի առաջ էլ մի սահմանադրություն կազմվեց, որտեղ ժողովուրդները հաշվի չէին առնվում: Առաջին աշխարհամարտի տարիներին չորս ժողովուրդ կորցրին` հայերը, հույները, ասորիներն ու հրեաները: Ասում էի, որ եթե նույն սխալը կրկնենք, այսօր նույն ցավալի իրողությունները կապրենք»,- ասել է Փայլանը:

Պատգամավորը նշել է, որ ընդդիմադիր «Ազգայնական շարժում» կուսակցությունն իր ելույթից հետո իշխող «Արդարություն և զարգացում» կուսակցությանը սպառնացել է` ասելով, որ եթե Գարո Փայլանին այդ խոսքերի պատճառով մեջլիսից չհեռացնեք, Սահմանադրական փոփոխությունների հարցում մեր աջակցությունը չի լինի: «Նախկինում նման բան չէր եղել: Սա մեջլիսի պատմության մեջ առաջին դեպքն է: Ցավոք սրտի, պատժամիջոցը կիրառվեց»,- նշել է Փայլանը` անդրադառնալով մեջլիսի նիստի աշխատանքներից երեք օրով իրեն հեռացնելու որոշման մասին:

Մեջլիսի հայ պատգամավորը ֆաշիստական է որակել նման մոտեցումը` ասելով. «Դրանով նրանք ցանկացան ասել, որ այսուհետ կխոսեք այնքան, որքան մենք ենք ցանկանում: Կօգտագործեք խոսքի ազատությունն ու առերեսվելու իրավունքը միայն այնքան, որքան մենք ենք ցանկանում: Սա ուղերձ էր նրա, որ եթե մեր ուզածով չանեք, ձեր ձայնը կկտրենք»:

Թուրքիայի քրդամետ Ժողովուրդների դեմոկրատական կուսակցության պատգամավոր Գարո Փայլանը մեջլիսում սահմանադրական փոփոխությունների քննարկման ժամանակ բարձրացրել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցը: «Ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը մի քանի անգամ կիրառելու պատճառով նրան պատժել են` հեռացնելով երեք նիստից:
