Арчи 7 лет и он жил в детском доме в Болгарии. Родители отказались от мальчика еще при рождении, узнав, что у малыша синдром Дауна.
Арчи был очень одинок, пока его не увидела дна семья из Техаса. Лиза и Джойи Эйчер взяли с собой 4-летнюю дочку и поехали в Болгарию, чтобы усыновить мальчика. Арчи стал настоящим членом семьи, но все было не так просто.
Со всех сторон посыпались предупреждения, неодобрения и предрассудки. Все хотели предостеречь и уберечь их от такой «беды» как больной ребенок. Эти слова очень ранили сердце Джойи и Лизы и заставили их усомниться в принятом решении.
