Չինաստանում մեկ երեխա ունեցող ընտանիքների ավելի քան 50 տոկոսը ցանկություն չունի երկրորդ երեխան ունենալ, չնայած երկրում «մեկ երեխայի քաղաքականության» չեղարկմանը: Այդ մասին վկայում են Կանանց համաչինական ասոցիացիայի կողմից անցկացված հարցման տվյալները:

Հարցումը 10 նահանգներում անցկացվել Է վեց ամսվա ընթացքում՝ սկսած այս տարվա ապրիլից: Հարցման մասնակիցները եղել են մինչեւ 15 տարեկան մեկ երեխա ունեցող 10 հազար ընտանիքներ:

Հարցման արդյունքները ցույց են տվել, որ ընտանիքների 53,3 տոկոսը չի ցանկանում երկրորդ երեխան ունենալ, հարցվածների 26,2 տոկոսը դեռեւս չեն կողմնորոշվել, եւ մասնակիցների միայն 20,5 տոկոսն Է ցանկանում երկրորդ երեխան ունենալ: Ընդ որում՝ Պեկինի բնակիչներն են ամենից քիչ ցանկանում երկրորդ երեխան ունենալ: Չինաստանի մայրաքաղաքում այդպիսիք 62 տոկոս են կազմում:

Գործոնների թվում, որոնք ազդում են երկրորդ երեխա ունենալու ցանկության վրա, հարցման մասնակիցները նշել են՝ կրթությունը, առողջապահությունը եւ սոցիալական այլ գործոններ, ինչպես նաեւ կոնկրետ ընտանիքի պայմանները: Երկրի զարգացած նահանգներում ու քաղաքներում պոտենցիալ մայրերի համար ամենակարեւոր գործոնը դարձել Է ժամանակի բաշխումը երեխայի խնամքի հետ կապված տնային հոգսերի եւ աշխատանքի միջեւ:   

1970-ական թվականների վերջին Չինաստանը ներդրել Է «Մեկ ընտանիք՝ մեկ երեխա» քաղաքականությունը, որպեսզի վերահսկի բնակչության աճը՝ քաղաքներում ընտանիքներին թույլ տալով ունենալ միայն մեկ երեխա, իսկ գյուղերում՝ երկու, եթե առաջին երեխան աղջիկ Է: Սակայն ժամանակի հետ այս քաղաքականությունը հանգեցրեց ժողովրդագրական խնդիրների, օրինակ՝ գենդերային հավասարակշռախախտման եւ բնակչության ծերացման: Բացի այդ, Չինաստանում չորրորդ տարին անընդմեջ դիտվում Է 16-ից մինչեւ 60 տարեկան մարդկանց աշխատուժի կրճատում:

2014 թվականի վերջի դրությամբ Չինաստանի բնակչությունը կազմում Էր Է մոտավորապես 1,37 միլիարդ: Բնակչության ընդհանուր թվի 51,2 տոկոսը տղամարդիկ են, 48,8 տոկոսը՝ կանայք: Շուրջ 15,5 տոկոսը 60-ից բարձր տարիքի մարդիկ են: 2013 թվականին իշխանությունները գնացին քաղաքականության մեղմացման՝ նպատակ ունենալով լուծել ի հայտ եկած խնդիրները: Երկրորդ երեխա թույլ տվեցին ունենալ այն զույգերին, որտեղ ամուսիններից գոնե մեկն իր ընտանիքի միակ երեխան Է: 2015 թվականի հոկտեմբերի վերջին, ամփոփելով Չինաստանի Կոմունիստական կուսակցության կենտրոնական կոմիտեի հինգերորդ պլենում ի արդյունքները, որոշում Է ընդունվել չեղարկել «մեկ երեխայի քաղաքականությունը»: Օրենքն ուժի մեջ Է մտել 2016 թվականի հունվարի 1-ին:

Չինաստանի իշխանությունների նախնական գնահատումներով՝ շուրջ 90-100 մլն ընտանիքներ կարող են օգտվել «երկու երեխայի քաղաքականությունից», ինչը թույլ կտա մինչեւ 2030 թվականը բնակչությունը հասցնել 1,45 միլիարդի, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստի գործակալությունը:
