Իրանա-թուրքական հարաբերություններում ձևավորված լարվածությունը հատկապես վերջին շրջանում էականորեն խորացել է: Արտաքուստ, կարող է թվալ, որ տարբեր քաղաքական շփումները, դիվանագիտական քայլերը չեզոքացնում կամ թուլացնում են դրանք, սակայն այդպես չէ: Խորքային առումով երկու երկրների միջև անվստահությունը բավական մեծ է: Թուրքական մամուլում բավական մեծացել են հակաիրանական դրսևորումներն ու շեշտադրումները, որոնք կարելի է ասել վերջին տարիների համար աննախադեպ են: Սիրիայում և Իրաքում շահերի առարկայական բախումը երկար է շարունակվելու, որքան էլ քաղաքական գործընթաց լինի, երկու երկրների միջև առճակատումն ու շահերի բախումը սրվելու է: Սակայն կարևոր է Իրանի կողմից Թուրքիայի` որպես հուսալի և կայուն գործընկերոջ ընկալումը, ինչը հատկապես վերջին տարիներին վերանայման է ենթարկվում: Ահաբեկչությունները, անկայունությունը Թուրքիայում էականորեն նվազեցնում են Թուրքիայի տարանցիկ դերի նշանակությունը նաև Իրանի հետ հարաբերությունների մասով: Վերջին շրջանում բազմիցս իրանական բեռնատարները, որոնք Թուրքիայի տարածքն օգտագործում են որպես տարանցիկ ուղի, լուրջ խնդիրների են հանդիպել և իրանական կողմը հնարավորության սահմանում փորձել է սահմանափակել այդ երթուղու օգտագործումը: Նման պայմաններում Իրանի համար կարևոր ու առաջնահերթ է դառնում նաև Թուրքիան շրջանցող ուղիների այլընտրանքային խնդիրը` Պարսից ծոցը Սև ծովին կապող ճանապարհի համատեքստում: Այս առումով տարածաշրջանային զարգացումների համապատկերում Հայաստանը որպես կայուն և հուսալի գործընկեր կարող է դառնալ այդ կապող օղակը:
