Աշխարհում շատ են վտանգավոր քաղաքները, որոնք հանցագործությունների չափազանց բարձր մակարդակ ունեն: Օրինակ՝ մեքսիկական Սյուդադ-Խուրեսը, որը վերջին տարիներին սկսել են համարել Երկիր մոլորակի ամենաքրեածին քաղաքը: 1993 թ. կատարված կանանց զանգվածային սպանությունը, որը ցնցել էր ողջ աշխարհը, նույնպես այստեղ էր կատարվել. զոհ էր գնացել մոտ 370 աղջիկ: Ինչ կարելի է ասել, եթե զբոսաշրջիկներն անգամ նորաձևության կենտրոն Փարիզ կամ Ռիո դե Ժանեյրո խորհուրդ չեն տալիս միայնակ այցելել, հատկապես եթե երիտասարդ օրիորդ եք: Սակայն երբեմն ամենավտանգավոր վայրերի ցուցակում կարող են հայտնվել նաև ամբողջական երկրներ: Առաջին տեղը, փաստորեն, զբաղեցնում է ժամանակակից ծովահենների հայրենիքը՝ արևելաաֆրիկական հանրապետություն Սոմալին:

Տեղի բնակիչները մեր օրերում զբաղվում են հանցագործություններով՝ միաժամանակ քաղցածության բարձր մակարդակ ունենալով: Անգամ Սոմալիի ափերին մոտենալ անհրաժեշտ չէ. ափերը շրջապատում են բոլորին հայտնի սոմալիական ծովահենները, որոնց զոհերն են դարձել դրանց մոտեցող գրեթե բոլոր նավերը: Պետության հյուսիսային հատվածում քաղաքացիական խրոնիկ պատերազմ է ընթանում: Իսկ տարատեսակ կլաններն ու ավազակախմբերը երկար ժամանակ է, ինչ փորձում էն իրենց մեջ կիսել Մոգադիշո մայրաքաղաքը: Սպանությունները, բռնաբարությունները, ցերեկային գողությունները, դիակների պղծումը և այս ամենի անպատժելիությունը միասին Սոմալին են կազմում:

Սոմալիի Դաշնային Հանրապետությունում իր գործունեությունն է ծավալում նաև այսպես կոչված Սոմալիի Իսլամական Էմիրությունների մի ճյուղը («Ջամաատ Աշ-Շաբաբ), որը կապեր ունի Ալ-Քաիդայի հետ: Ահաբեկչական այս հանցախումբը համագործակցում է հարևան երկիր Եմենի իսլամիստ-ծայրահեղականների հետ և կառավարում է Սոմալիի կենտրոնական և հարավարևմտյան հատվածների տարածքային մեծ հատվածները:
