Սաուդյան Արաբիայի հասցեին Մեծ Բրիտանիայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Բորիս Ջոնսոնի արած հայտարարությունները նկատելիորեն վատացրել են նրա հարաբերությունները Թերեզա Մեյի հետ: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, հայտնել Է The Daily Telegraph թերթը: Հրատարակությունը նշում Է, ո ր Ջոնսոնի եւ Մեյի հարաբերությունները փչացել են այն բանից հետո, երբ վարչապետը նրան դիտողություն Է արել այն հայտարարության կապակցությամբ, թե Սաուդյան Արաբիան հիբրիդային պատերազմներ Է հրահրում Մերձավոր Արեւելքում: Հաղորդագրության մեջ նաեւ ասված Է, որ Մեյի պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչը հրապարակավ վարչապետին սահմանազատել Է նրա արտաքին գործերի նախարարից՝ ասելով, որ Սաուդյան Արաբիայի վերաբերյալ նրա մեկնաբանությունը չի արտացոլում կառավարության դիրքորոշումը:
Նյութում նշվում Է, որ կառավարությունում եւ խորհրդարանում Ջոնսոնի կողմնակիցները դատապարտել են վարչապետի դիվանատան վերաբերմունքը ԱԳ նախարարության ղեկավարի նըատմամբ՝ այն բնութագրելով որպես «նախարաների կաբինետի անդամի արժանապատվությունը նսեմացնելու փորձ»:
Ինչպես ավելի վաղ տեղեկացրել Է The Guardian-ը, Ջոնսոնն իր երկրի դաշնակից Սաուդյան Արաբիային մեղադրել Է Մերձավոր Արեւելքում պատերազմներ հրահրելու մեջ: Հրատարակության տրամադրության տակ հայտնվել Է Հռոմում քաղաքական գործիչների հետ Ջոնսոնի զրույցի ձայնագրությունը, որի ընթացքում նա խախտել Է մերձավոր դաշնակիցներին չքննադատելու բրիտանական դիվանագիտության վաղեմի կանոնը:
Ջոնսոնը հայտարարել Է, որ Սաուդյան Արաբիան եւ Իրանն իրենց պահում են ինչպես տիկնիկավարներ՝ միջնորդավորված մասնակցելով Մերձավոր Արեւելքի հակամարտություններին: Նա դա բացատրել Է տարածաշրջանում ուժեղ առաջնորդի բացակայությամբ, որի ազդեցությունը դուրս կգար սուննի կամ շիա համայնքների սահմաններից:
«Կան քաղաքական գործիչներ, որոնք խեղաթյուրում են կրոնը եւ նույն կրոնի տարբեր ուղղությունները հանուն սեփական քաղաքական նպատակների»,-հայտարարել Է Ջոնսոնը: Հայտարարությունը հնչել Է այն բանից քիչ անց, երբ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Թերեզա Մեյը վերադարձել Է Պարսից ծոցի երկրներ աշխատանքային ուղեւորությունից, որտեղ նա հանդիպումներ Է ունեցել Սաուդյան Արաբիայի, Արաբական Միացյալ Էմիրությունների, Քաթարի, Բահրեյնի եւ Օմանի ղեկավարների հետ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
