ԵՄ-ում կյանքի միջին տեւողությունը պատմության մեջ առաջին անգամ գերազանցել Է 80 տարին: Այդ մասին, ինչպես հաղորդում Է The Independent-ը, ասված Է Եվրահանձնաժողովի եւ Տնտեսական համագործակցության ու զարգացման կազմակերպության զեկույցում:
Ուսումնասիրության համաձայն՝ ԵՄ-ի 28 երկրներում կյանքի միջին տեւողությունը 1990 թվականի 74,2 տարուց ավելացել Է մինչեւ 80,9 տարի՝ 2014 թվականին. հենց այս տարվա համար են հասանելի վիճակագրական վերջին տվյալները:
ԵՄ-ի արեւմտյան երկրներում մարդիկ միջին հաշվով ութ տարով ավելի երկար են ապրում, քան Կենտրոնական եւ Արեւելյան Եվրոպայի պետություններում: Մինչդեռ առկա են նաեւ բացասական միտումներ:
Օրինակ, 2014 թվականին չափահաս բնակչության արդեն 16 տոկոսը տառապում Էր ճարպակալումից՝ 2000 թվականի 11 տոկոսի համեմատությամբ: Նաեւ դիտվում Է խրոնիկական հիվանդությունների թվաքանակի աճ, ծխելու եւ հարբեցողության տարածում:
Միջին հաշվով ամեն տարի աշխատունակ տարիքի ավելի քան 55 հազար մարդ վաղաժամ մահանում Է սրտի տագնապից, ինսուլտից, շաքարախտից, քաղցկեղից եւ շնչուղիների հիվանդություններից: Ընդհանուր առմամբ ԵՄ-ի մոտավորապես 50 մլն քաղաքացիներ, որոնց մեծ մասը 65-ից բարձր տարիքի Է, տառապում են երկու կամ ավելի խրոնիկական հիվանդություններից:
Այս հիվանդությունների դեմ պայքարելու համար (հաշմանդամության նպաստ եւ հիվանդության թերթիկ) ծախսվում Է ԵՄ-ի համախառն ներքին արդյունքի շուրջ 1,7 տոկոսը. սա ավելին Է, քան գործազրկության համար վճարումների գումարը: Փորձագետները նաեւ կանխատեսում են Եվրոպայի բնակչության սրընթաց ծերացում: Եթե 1980-ական թվականներին 65-ից բարձր տարիքի մարդիկ կազմում Էին ԵՄ-ի քաղաքացիների 10 տոկոսը, ապա 2015 թվականին նրանց թիվը գնահատվում Է 20 տոկոս, իսկ մինչեւ 2060 թվականը՝ 30 տոկոս:
Ռուսաստանում կյանքի միջին տեւողությունը, ըստ 2015 թվականի տվյալների, հասել Է պատմական առավելագույնի եւ կազմել 71,39 տարի:
