Armenian ombudsman briefs HRW chief on Azerbaijani violence
INTERVIEW
Armenia’s human rights defender addressed Azerbaijan’s large-scale aggression unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh in April as he met with Advocacy Director of Human Rights Watch John Fisher in Geneva.
Arman Tatoyan called attention particularly to the use of force and special weapons against civilians, highlighting the Azerbaijani authorities’ propaganda on the media and government levels. He also emphasized the importance of the Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsman’s fact-finding activities and reports.
According to a press release by the Ombudsman’s Office, Tatoyan later met with Heinz Koller, the International Labor Organization’s regional director for Europe and Central Asia, to consider key trends of cooperation in the protection of labor rights.
