Բժիշկները համարում են, որ վատ քունը կարող է հանգեցնել աղիքների աշխատանքի խափանմանը, ինչպես նաև նվազեցնել ինսուլինի հանդեպ զգայունությունը:

Շվեյցարիայի և Գերմանիայի գիտնականների խումբը հետազոտություններ է անցկացրել` իմանալու, թե ինչպես է քնի պակասը անդրադառնում աղիքներում բակտերիաների քանակի վրա: Փորձարկման ժամանակ 9 առողջ տղամարդկանց երկու օրվա ընթացքում չէին թողնում քնել օրական 4 ժամից ավելի: Անալիզները ցույց են տվել, որ նույնիսկ այդ ժամանակահավածում աղիքներում միկրոֆլորայի որոշ տեսակների քանակը նվազել է: Բացի այդ մասնակիցներից 20% մոտ նվազել է ինսուլինի հանդեպ զգայունությունը:

Նույն վիճակը առաջացել էր, երբ նույն եղանակով մասնագետները փորձարկում են իրականացրել ճարպակալման խնդիրներ և ուղիղ կառուցվածք ունեցողների հետ:

Հետազոտողներն ասում են, որ դա ուղիղ ապացույց չէ և կարիք կա ավելի ծավալուն փորձարկումներ իրականացնել, սակայն իրենց փորձարկման արդյունքներում վստահ են:

Բացի այդ, գիտնականները զգուշացնում են, որ քնի պակասը երեխաների մոտ կարող է ապագայում հանգեցնել հարբեցողության և թմրամոլության:

Ամենատարածված հետևանքները, որոնք կարող են առաջանալ քնի պակասից դա մկանային տոնուսի վատացումն է, դիմադրողականության թուլացումը և մտավոր ակտիվության նվազումը:
