ԱՄՆ-ի Սենատ օրինագիծ Է մտցվել նախագահի ուղղակի ընտրությունների մասին

ԱՄՆ-ի Կալիֆոռնիայի նահանգից դեմոկրատ-սենատոր Բարբարա Բոքսերը նոյեմբերի 16-ին Կոնգրեսի Սենատի քննարկմանն Է ներկայացրել նախագահին ընտրելիս ԱՄՆ-ում գործող քվեատուների կոլեգիայի ինստիտուտի վերացման մասին օրինագիծը: Օրենսդրի կարծիքով՝ ընտրությունների այդ համակարգը հնացած Է, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը:

Երկրի ղեկավարին ընտրելու ամերիկացի քաղաքացիների իրավունքը քվեատուներին պատվիրակելու նպատակահարմարության շուրջ վաղեմի բանավեճը ավելի Է թեժացել նոյեմբերի 8-ին ԱՄՆ-ում անցկացված նախագահական ընտրություններից հետո: Դրանցում հաղթանակ Է տարել Հանրապետական կուսակցությունից թեկնածու Դոնալդ Թրամփը, որը, ընտրությունների նախնական արդյունքների համաձայն, ապահովել Է 290 քվեատուների աջակցությունը: Նրա մրցակիցը՝ դեմոկրատների թեկնածու Հիլարի Քլինթոնը, ստացել Է 232 քվեատուների ձայները, բայց, ըստ նույն հաշվարկների, նրա օգտին գրեթե 1 միլիոնով ավելի ընտրողներ են քվեարկել եւ, եթե չլիներ քվեատուների ինստիտուտը, նա նախագահ կընտրվեր:
