«Իսկանդերը» հարկադրված միջոց էր` մեր տարածաշրջանում ռազմական իրավիճակն ինչ-որ կերպ հավասարակշռելու համար։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է ՀՀ նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը «Ռոսիա սեգոդնյա» միջազգային լրատվական գործակալության գլխավոր տնօրեն Դմիտրի Կիսելյովին՝ Sputnik Արմենիայի համար տված հարցազրույցում։

«Կարծում եմ, որ դա հարկադրված միջոց էր` մեր տարածաշրջանում ռազմական իրավիճակն ինչ-որ կերպ հավասարակշռելու համար։ Գաղտնիք չէ, որ Ադրբեջանը վերջին մի քանի տարվա ընթացքում կանոնավոր ձեռք է բերել նորագույն սպառազինություն։ Մենք չունենք ֆինանսական այն հնարավորությունները, որոնք ունի Ադրբեջանը, բայց մենք անընդհատ փորձում ենք հավասարակշռել իրավիճակը` ձեռք բերելով հակաթույն։ Իմ կարծիքով` այս դեպքում «Իսկանդերը» հակաթույն է»,- ասել է Սերժ Սարգսյանը Դմիտրի Կիսելյովին։

«Իհարկե, սպառազինությունների մրցավազքը լավ իրավիճակ չէ, և մենք չենք ցանկանում գնալ այդ քայլին, իսկ ի՞նչ անել, եթե ամեն օր քեզ սպառնում են պատերազմով, կործանմամբ։ Դու պետք է համապատասխան քայլեր ձեռնարկես»,- ավելացրել է նախագահը։

Նա ընդգծել է, որ Հայաստանը Ռուսաստանի հետ ունի տարածաշրջանում ուժերի հավասարակշռությունը պահպանելու մասին պայմանագիր։

«Կարծում եմ, որ Ռուսաստանը դրանից ելնելով է ընդառաջել մեր խնդրանքին և տրամադրել ռազմական տեսանկյունից հիանալի այդ համակարգը։ Իհարկե, մարդկության համար ավելի լավ կլիներ, եթե նման համակարգեր չլինեին, բայց երբ դու ստիպված ես լինում, ապա գնում ես նաև այդ քայլին»,- նշել է Սերժ Սարգսյանը։
