Wikileaks պորտալի հիմնադիր Ջուլիան Ասանժը շվեդ դատախազ Ինգրիդ Իսգրենի ներկայությամբ, որը նրան այցելել Էր Լոնդոնում Էկվադորի դեսպանատանը, պաշտոնական հայտարարություն Է արել իր նկատմամբ հարուցված մեղադրանքների վերաբերյալ, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով CNN-ին:
45-ամյա Ասանժը 2012 թվականից գտնվում Է դեսպանատանը՝ երկյուղելով բրիտանական ոստիկանության կողմից ձերբակալվելուց եւ այնուհետեւ Շվեդիային հանձնվելուց, որն իր հերթին, նրա համոզմամբ, իրեն կհանձնի ԱՄՆ-ին: Այնտեղ նրան կարող Է մահապատիժ սպառնալ Wikileaks-ի կողմից պետական գաղտնիքներ պարունակող տեղեկությունների հրապարակման գործով:
Շվեդիայում նրա դեմ մի քանի մեղադրանք Է առաջադրվել երկու կանանց նկատմամբ սեռական բնույթի հանցագործություն կատարելու գործով, որը տեղի Է ունեցել 2010 թվականին:
Ինչպես գրում Է Wikileaks-ի թվիթերը, այս կազմակերպության հիմնադիրը «վեց տարվա ընթացքում առաջին անգամ հնարավորություն Է ստացել հայտնել իր դիրքորոշումը»: Երկար ժամանակ շվեդ դատախազները հրաժարվում Էին հաշվի առնել Ասանժի ցուցմունքները, պնդելով, որ օրենքն իրենց արգելում Է քննել այն հայտարարությունները, որոնք արվել են տեսակապով կամ Էլ դեսպանատան տարածքում, հաղորդել Է «Ինտերֆաքս»-ը:
