Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապը ցնցված է Իրաքում, հատկապես Մոսուլում, տեղի ունեցող իրադարձություններով, որտեղից խաղաղ բնակիչների, այդ թվում երեխաների սպանությունների մասին տեղեկություններ են ստացվում։
«Այս դրամատիկ օրերին ես Իրաքի ժողովրդի հետ եմ եւ հատկապես նրանց հետ, որոնք գտնվում են Մոսուլում։ Մեր հոգիները ցնցված են բռնության դաժան հարձակումներից, որոնք արդեն վաղուց իրականացվում են անմեղ քաղաքացիների նկատմամբ, լինեն մուսուլման, քրիստոնյա, թե այլ կրոնի ներկայացուցիչ»,-Վատիկանում հայտարարել է պոնտիֆիկը կիրակնօրյա ավանդական աղոթքի ժամանակ։
Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապն ընդգծել է, որ մեծ հոգեկան ցավ է ապրում կապված բազմաթիվ երեխաների սառնասիրտ սպանությունների հետ. «Այդ դաժանությունը ստիպում է մեզ լաց լինել՝ թողնելով մեզ առանց խոսքի»։
Հռոմի Պապը կոչ է արել Իրաքի բնակիչներին հանդես բերել վճռականություն եւ չկորցնել հույսը, որ իրենց երկիրը անվտանգ ու խաղաղ ապագա է ունենալու։
Նշենք, որ հոկտեմբերի 17-ին իրաքյան եւ քրդական ուժերը միջազգային կոալիցիայի օդուժի աջակցությամբ զանգվածային հարձակում են սկսել Նինվե նահանգի կենտրոն Մոսուլը ԻՊ-ի ահաբեկիչներից ազատագրելու համար։ Ի պատասխան ահաբեկիչները դաժանաբար հաշվեհարդար են տեսնում տեղի բնակիչների նկատմամբ։ Մասնավորապես, նրանք մահապատժի են ենթարկել 284 տղամարդու եւ երեխաների։
