Լիտվայում, այսօր՝ հոկտեմբերի 23-ին, 68 ընտրատարածքներում տեղի է ունենում խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների երկրորդ փուլը։ Այսօր պատգամավորներ են ընտրվում միամանդատ ընտրատարածքներում։

Ընտրատեղամասերը բացվել են առավոտյան ժամը 7-ին եւ կփակվեն երեկոյան ժամը 20-ին։ «68 միամանդատ ընտրատարածքներում ընտրություններին մասնակցում են երկուական թեկնածուներ, որոնք առաջին փուլում հավաքել են առավել թվով ձայներ։ Երեք թեկնածուներ ընտրվել են հենց առաջին փուլում»,-ասված է Լիտվայի գլխավոր ընտրական հանձնաժողովի հաղորդագրության մեջ։

Ընտրությունների երկրորդ փուլում առավելագույն թվով թեկնածուներ ունենն «Հայրենիքի միություն-քրիստոնե-դեմոկրատներ» կուսակցությունը (42) եւ Գյուղացիների եւ կանաչների միությունը (40)։ Սոցիալ դեմոկրատական կուսակցությունն ունի 21 թեկնածու։

Լիտվայում գրանցված է 2,5 մլն ընտրող, ընտրելու իրավունք ունեցող եւս 13 հազար քաղաքացիներ ապրում են արտերկրում։

Լիտվայում պատգամավորներն ընտրվում են 4 տարով, երկրում գործում է խառը ընտրական համակարգ. 71 պատգամավոր ընտրվում է միամանդատ ընտրատարածքներից, իսկ 70-ը՝ բազմամանդատ։

Լիտվայի խորհրդարանի կարեւորագույն գործառույթներից մեկը կառավարության ձեւավորումն է։ Նախագահը՝ խորհրդարանի հավանությամբ, նշանակում է վարչապետ։ Որպես կանոն վարչապետ է դառնում ընտրություններում հաղթած կուսակցության առաջնորդը։
