Solar Power is Generated in Kechut Community Through the Efforts of Ucom and SunChild
ՀԱՍԱՐԱԿՈՒԹՅՈՒՆWith the support of Ucom, the Sunchild NGO has installed a 10 kW solar power plant in the village of Kechut in the Vayots Dzor region, aimed at increasing the community’s energy efficiency and financial sustainability.
The solar station installed on the administrative building of Kechut will power not only that facility, but also the nearby structures owned by the community center. According to preliminary estimates, the community will save about 800,000 AMD annually, which will be allocated to local development and infrastructure improvement projects.
“At Ucom, we prioritize long-term, community-focused programs that create real positive impact on people’s lives. The project implemented in Kechut not only supports the community’s financial stability, but also promotes a culture of ‘green’ thinking and responsible investment,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.
“This project demonstrates that environmental solutions can also serve as powerful tools for economic sustainability. For a community like Kechut, the saved funds become a transformative resource that enables independent development in other areas. We are grateful to Ucom for their commitment to jointly implementing initiatives of public significance,” noted head of SunChild NGO Sona Kalantaryan.
Over the past three years of cooperation between Ucom and SumChild 16 solar stations have already been installed in kindergartens, community buildings, and public infrastructure across various regions of Armenia, promoting both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
